Our Story

Astitva in a laymen language can be defined as existence, for us Astitva represents the existence of Indian culture, our heritage, heirloom collection, contemporary fashion & traditional crafts.

It presents a beautiful amalgamation of everything, connects us to our glorious past with age old craft techniques in form of heritage inspired ethnic modern clothing, intrinsic jewellery, handcrafted vintage bags & rare art fineries.

For over two decades, Astitva stands as a celebration of our roots with meticulously designed clothes, vintage jewellery and more.
We, at Astitva, believe life is a celebration, and we wish to celebrate it with our handcrafted collection, which is both contemporary and modern yet deep-rooted with Indian aesthetics. According to us, the core strength of India lies in its rural crafts, traditions and culture.

Astitva displays unique craftsmanship with sharp edginess in its designs with a modern take on age old Indian silhouettes with rich legacy of Indian textiles.

Astitva was born out of a dream shared by Rajiv & Nirali, together they dreamt of inspiring people by reviving the Indian culture & craft traditions and giving back to people who shape up the Indian crafts. Astitva strongly believes in giving back to society by working with skilled artisans and craftsman across India.

The collection at Astitva is a combination of old and contemporary craft traditions bringing forth a timeless piece of fashion, innovative silhouettes with infusing different textile prints, and weaves with vintage embroideries. The signature Astitva designs outshine with intricate detailing, signifying Indian aesthetics and a modern fashion. Our jewelry is largely inspired by our travel tales. Every time we visit different regions, we would be quite fascinated by breathtaking jewelry adorned by women of those regions and reminding us of a bygone era. In our endeavor, we have tried to bring together the vintage jewelry pieces handpicked by us from our discovery of India’s past and are re-designed with Astitva aesthetics to connect with the enchanting world of crafts lying deep inside the heart of India.

The conglomeration of products at Astitva is primarily handwoven, handspun and handprinted using vegetable dyes so that they are not only high in fashion but also environmentally conscious.

Faces behind Astitva

Astitva is the brainchild of Rajiv and Nirali, who together felt the need for sustainable fashion intending to establish a connection with rich legacy of Indian Craft traditions & rural India.

Rajiv, a microbiologist and travel enthusiast with deep interest in Indian crafts and culture, always had a keen interest in discovering our past in heirloom and vintage products. Being a theatre enthusiast, he believes that folk theatres across India has played a strong role in influencing Astitva, he always felt that there is a pandora of secrets hidden in our India, which if nurtured can add value to our lives as well as strengthen the Indian artisans and craft communities. He felt a strong urge to create a fashion label which is high in fashion, environmentally sustainable and ethical which supports the livelihood of these craftsmen. He also designs costumes for theatre and films and teaches theatre to children.

Nirali, a commerce graduate and travel enthusiast, joined the journey of Astitva with a keen sense of eclectic taste in everything.
